Single Parent Getting After It

Evie Pops, my beautiful little flamboyant ball of energy.

Today, as you celebrate your 10th birthday, I find myself whispering to you from a place beyond this world where love transcends all boundaries. Though my arms cannot hold you, my heart is forever wrapped around yours.

I want you to know how proud I am of the extraordinary person you are becoming. You are brave and kind and carry a spark of wonder that lights up the lives of everyone lucky enough to know you. That spark, my little rabbit, is your gift to the world—nurture it, protect it, and let it guide you.

As you step into this new chapter, remember that growing up isn’t just about getting taller or older. It’s about learning who you are and embracing the incredible, imperfect journey of becoming YOU! Never be afraid to ask questions (I know you avoid this sometimes in class), chase dreams, or even make mistakes. Mistakes are life’s teachers, and every stumble will make you stronger.

I have been so impressed with how you have handled friendships with some friends who don’t get along. You have dealt with this delicately and with your very own judgement like a girl who is not 10 but older and wise.

Your passion for cheerleading lights up the stars. I love watching you perform, and your self-created talent is awe-inspiring. Keep dancing!

I left this world too soon, but please believe I’m never far from your side. When the sunlight dances on your face, that’s me smiling at you. When the wind brushes through your hair, that’s me whispering, You are loved. And when you’re wrapped in your dadda’s warm hug every day and night, it’s my love reaching you through in the same comforting energy. Daddy is “so warm” because it’s both of us.

Know that the bond we share can never be broken. It’s woven into every beat of your heart and every breath you take. Whenever you miss me, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and speak to me. I promise I’ll be listening.

I wish I could be there to bake you our favourite tiramisu or to laugh as you blow out your candles, all 10 of them. But I know you’ll celebrate surrounded by love, just as it should be – Grandma, Grandpa and The Conky’s are your special family. Make a wish, little puffin rabbit, and know I’ll be cheering for you with all the stars in the sky.

Happy 10th birthday, my precious one. Keep growing, keep shining, and always remember: you and Noah are your dad’s and my greatest joy and proudest achievement.

With all my love, forever and always,

Mumma!
